Watch above: National Thrift Shop Day is taking place across the country, including Value Village in Saskatoon – and as Joelle Tomlinson finds out, it’s just not about clothing.
SASKATOON – Whether it’s clothing, furniture or household goods, everyone loves finding a deal. Thrifty shoppers can look forward to even greater savings today at all Value Village stores.
It’s National Thrift Shop Day and this means 50 per cent off all clothing, accessories, shoes and bed and bath items in all Value Village stores across the country.
Value Village locations sell gently-used second-hand items that have been donated from the greater public. For every donation made, the store then pays non-profit organizations in the community.

Production supervisor Dale Thurber recommends shoppers get their thrifting in earlier rather than later today.
“It gets extremely busy. Yesterday we had a pre-sale and it was full, we had no shopping carts available and we are expecting the same volume today, said Thurber. “Peak times are early afternoon but if you want to avoid the rush obviously the choice would be to come in the morning.”
