NDP set to choose candidate in NDG-Westmount

WESTMOUNT — The New Democratic Party (NDP) is about to choose its nominee to run in October’s upcoming federal election in the riding of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce-Westmount.

The riding is currently held by Liberal MP Marc Garneau.

There are six candidates vying for the NDP nomination, after two dropped out.

Three of the candidates are considered front-runners.

Nominees include former Montreal Gazette courts reporter Sue Montgomery, City Councillor Peter McQueen and James Hughes, a former director of the Old Brewery Mission.

Joining them is Julien Feldman, a member of the English Montreal School Board, physician Salim Bouguermouh and educator Kiley Philp.

Results are expected to be announced Sunday evening at around 6:30 p.m.
