MONTREAL – The Sûreté du Québec are investigating after an early morning fire ripped through a barn in Saint-Ambroise-de-Kildare in the Lanaudière, 88 kilometres north east of Montreal.
A passerby noticed the fire and called emergency services shortly before one Sunday morning.
More than 25 firefighters, some from neighbouring communities, battled the blaze for five hours.
The intensity of the fire forced firefighters to remain at a safe distance, meaning they couldn’t enter the barn and extinguish the flames from within the structure.

According to SQ spokesperson, Melanie Dumaresq, the barn was a complete loss.
Luckily there were no animals in the farm building and there were no reports of injury.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
