SASKATOON – The Saskatoon Fire Department was called to a chemical spill at St. Paul’s Hospital at 10:30 p.m. Friday. A small amount of formalin was spilt in the morgue and the area of the hospital was evacuated.
Hazmat technicians suited up in protective gear and self-contained breathing apparatus and investigated.
Officials say three litres of formalin, a chemical used in the embalming process, spilled on the ceramic floor. The source of the spill was a leaking valve.
