Police arrest suspect in early morning hit-and-run

WATCH ABOVE: A woman in her 20s is facing charges after she hit a pedestrian early Saturday morning and then fled the scene.

MONTREAL – A woman in her 20s is in hospital with serious upper body injuries after she was hit by a car as she was crossing the street early Saturday morning.

The incident happened at around 2:45 a.m. at the corner of Mt-Royal Avenue and St-Denis Street.

The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle as she attempted to cross Mt-Royal.

According to witnesses the car heading west on St-Denis had a green light while the pedestrian was crossing on the red.

However, the driver of the car fled the scene of the accident.

A witness followed the vehicle and notified police.

The driver, a woman in her 20s was arrested a few blocks away on Ontario Street and Saint-Laurent Boulevard.

Police say she is facing charges of driving under the influence, and hit-and-run causing bodily harm.
