NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. – Around 14,000 people in North Battleford, Sask. remain under a precautionary drinking water advisory (PDWA). Officials say the advisory will remain in place until tests come back showing the city’s water supply is safe.

The PWDA was issued after partially treated water bypassed one of the treatment processes and flowed into the treated water reservoir of the surface water plant, setting off a water quality alarm.

Officials say crews have conducted flushing of the F.E. Holliday water treatment plant and the main waterlines from the plant.

They say testing of the system has been completed and although the results have come back showing the water to be within the drinking water standards, people still need to boil their water for a least a minute before consumption.
