Police say the pair hit a flatbed truck pulling out of a driveway, lost control and crashed into a power pole.
The 41-year-old man from Abbotsford died at the scene and his seven-year-old son was rushed to hospital in non-life-threatening condition.
Langley RCMP Traffic Section is currently investigating the incident but believe a combination of speed and driver judgement may have been factors.
