CALGARY – A family of five was able to safely escape a home that caught fire in the community of Temple on Thursday.

Crews arrived at a house in the 300 block of Templevale Drive N.E. just after 5:30 a.m.

Neighbours say they awoke to see the garage completely engulfed in bright orange flames.

“It’s scary,” said neighbour Gary Nymark. “It’s just terrible. Thank god nobody was hurt. That’s all I care about.”

Three adults and two kids were able to make it out of the home safely, along with the family dog.
