Motorcyclist killed in southwest Calgary crash

CALGARY – A 53-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash in southwest Calgary on Wednesday.

It happened just after 2 p.m. in the intersection of Old Banff Coach Road S.W. and Patterson Boulevard S.W.

Police say the motorcyclist was travelling westbound when he collided with an eastbound SUV that was turning left onto Patterson Boulevard S.W.

The motorcycle driver was rushed to the Foothills Medical Centre but later succumbed to his injuries.

The 66-year-old woman driving the SUV sustained only minor injuries. Two children from the SUV were taken to the Alberta Children’s Hospital for precautionary reasons.

Investigators don’t believe speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
