Summary: The Tri-Cities’ rural riding, Conservative MP Harold Albrecht seeks a fourth term in Kitchener-Conestoga.
Boundaries: The mostly rural seat surrounding Kitchener-Waterloo to the north, east and west, it includes the small towns of Elmira, New Hamburg and Wellesley. It has lost its suburban areas between Kitchener and Cambridge to the immediate west of Highway 8.
Last Election: Albrecht defeated NDP candidate Lorne Bruce by 32.4 per cent, his largest margin in three victories.
History: Prior to Albrecht, the riding was held by Liberal MP Lynn Myers between 1997 and 2006.
Demographics: 30.4 per cent of people have German heritage, the highest number in Ontario. The median income was $36,052 as of the 2011 National Household Survey, the highest figure in the Tri-Cities.
