Montreal teen in hospital after being dragged by car

MONTREAL – An 18-year-old man is in hospital after being dragged by a car in the Sud-Ouest borough.

Police received a 911 call around 6:35 p.m. after a passerby found the wounded man lying on the road near the intersection of Charlevoix Street and Sainte-Cunégonde Street.

“According to the first witnesses that police officers questioned, the man was holding the car door,” said Manuel Couture with Montreal police, adding that the incident started on the corner of Atwater Avenue and Notre-Dame Street Ouest.

“The car began to move and collided with a parked car. During all the movement, the man was holding the door on the outside of the car.”

At the impact with the parked car, the victim reportedly fell to the ground, causing serious head injuries.

He was unconscious when police arrived and was transported to hospital.

His life is not in danger.

“Elements on the scene indicate that it might be related to drugs,” said Couture.

“The car fled immediately. It is considered an armed assault and hit and run.”

Police are searching for the suspect.
