TORONTO — A 27-year-old Brampton man has been charged in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a woman he met at a downtown Toronto nightclub.
Toronto police said the incident occurred on July 18, when Moazzam Tariq allegedly escorted a 25-year-old woman from a club in the King Street West and Portland Street area to a nearby hotel where he then sexually assaulted her.
Police said the woman believed she may have been drugged because she allegedly had no recollection of meeting the man or arriving at the hotel.
Tariq was arrested on Monday and has since been charged with sexual assault.
He is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Aug. 28. Police believe there may be other victims.
