NEAR PENTICTON — An early morning house fire near Penticton burned a new home to the ground on Friday.

According to Penticton Fire Chief Wayne Williams, the owner of the property was building a home, and after having installed electrical just last week, was planning to move into the new place soon.

Williams says it’s not the first time the homeowner has lost a house due to a fire. The man had another home burn down about eight years ago.

B.C. Wildfire Service crews were called to the house fire on Joy Road around 6:30 a.m.
