OTTAWA – The annual inflation rate in Saskatchewan was 1.9 per cent in June, up from 1.5 per cent in June. The increase in consumer prices was the largest in Canada.
The national inflation rate for June was 1.0 per cent.

Statistics Canada said the purchase of passenger vehicles index rose 4.9 per cent in Saskatchewan on a year-over-year basis.
Food prices were up 4.1 per cent, led by increases in fresh vegetables at 9.1 per cent, fresh fruit at 7.0 per cent and meat at 6.5 per cent.

Natural gas prices also remained higher than a year ago, up 15 per cent.
Gas prices were down 14.8 per cent from the same period last year while fuel oil and other fuels were down 25.2 per cent.
Excluding gasoline, the consumer price index rose 2.9 percent in June.
