SASKATOON – A special place at Saskatchewan’s new children’s hospital will happen thanks to the generosity of a country music star. Garth Brooks and his Teammates for Kids Foundation will help create the Child Life Zone at the hospital.
The state-of-the-art therapeutic play area for pediatric patients and their families will give kids a place to play, learn, laugh and relax.
The zone will be the first in Canada.
“We are thrilled that Mr. Brooks and Teammates for Kids have chosen Saskatchewan as their first foray into Canada,” said Brynn Boback-Lane, president and CEO of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan.
“The support of Teammates for Kids will allow our province’s children to have the very best within their new hospital and we are grateful for the support and generosity of Mr. Brooks, Teammates, and the people of Saskatchewan.”

As part of the fundraising efforts, Brooks will make special appearances in Saskatoon and Regina on Aug. 26. While he won’t be playing a concert, those willing to pay $5,000 will have a chance to interact with Brooks.
“This is a rare opportunity to enjoy some personal interaction with Mr. Brooks while helping Saskatchewan children and families at the same time,” explained Boback-Lane.
He is appearing at both fundraisers free of charge and Brooks, along with Teammates for Kids, is covering the overhead costs of the events.
“Through this unique charitable donation, attendees will be directly helping build a Child Life Zone and, at the same time, have the chance to check something extraordinary off their bucket list,” said Boback-Lane.
Tickets are limited to 200 for each event and over 50 per cent have been sold. Tickets can be bought by calling the Children’s Hospital Foundation at 306-931-4487. A 90 per cent tax receipt will be issued.
