Mom dead, father and daughter injured in rollover north of Lake Louise

CALGARY – One woman is dead after a station wagon rolled down an embankment north of Lake Louise on Tuesday afternoon.

The woman’s daughter and her husband were injured in the crash and taken to hospital. The 40-year-old man was flown by STARS air ambulance to Foothills Medical Centre, and the child was taken by ground ambulance to Mineral Springs Hospital in Banff.

Police said the family was visiting from India. Family members have been notified and some have arrived in Canada “to assist the father and daughter” who remain in hospital as of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, according to RCMP.

EMS was called to the single-vehicle crash just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday on Highway 93, about 15 kilometres north of Saskatchewan Crossing.

Alberta RCMP say the highway has since been opened.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
