Vehicle loses wheels in Kelowna intersection crash

Dan Couch/Global News

KELOWNA – It seems speed and driver inattention are factors in a two vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Kelowna that sent one person to hospital.

It happened at the intersection of KLO Road and Richter Street where two pickup trucks collided.

Police say it appears one of the drivers ran a yellow or red traffic light.

The force of the collision sheared off both rear wheels of one of the vehicles.

“She was hit pretty hard,” says RCMP Cst. Dan Carson. “That’s what happens when speed is involved at these collisions at intersections and unfortunately that’s what is killing people. We really need to pay attention to the red lights.”

The female driver of the truck that lost its wheels was taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
