MONCTON – An early morning fire in Moncton on Tuesday has forced more than a dozen residents from their homes.
The fire started just before 7:30 a.m. at a three-storey apartment building on South Street, near Vaughan Harvey Boulevard and Main Street.
All 13 residents of the building made it out safely, and firefighters knocked down the fire a short time later.
The fire was contained to a single apartment on the top floor of the 10-unit building.
Other units sustained smoke and water damage.
The Canadian Red Cross is providing assistance and lodging to the tenants who need it.
Firefighters are still investigating the cause.
