HALIFAX – Canada Day will be jam-packed with BBQs, good music, fireworks and hopefully sunny weather, but there are some important things to note around Halifax for the holiday.

Solid Waste Collection and Facility Hours:

There will be no municipal solid waste collection on Wednesday, July 1. Normally scheduled curbside collection of garbage, organics or recyclables for Wednesday will happen on the following Saturday, July 4.

Note: Weekly curbside green cart collection begins for all municipal residents on Thursday, July 2, and will be in effect each week in July and August. Collection services can begin as early as 7 a.m. To be sure waste is collected, residents may place materials curbside the evening prior to collection day.

The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility, the Halifax Recycling Plant and municipal composting facilities will be closed on Canada Day. They will be open for regular hours on Saturday, July 4.
