EDMONTON – Edmonton police are investigating a fatal collision at a south side shopping centre.
Emergency crews were called to a single vehicle crash in South Edmonton Common shortly after 2 a.m. Friday.
A car drove into the entrance of the Walmart Garden Centre.
“The vehicle and the Garden Centre, the building, were engulfed in flames. Once Edmonton Fire put the fire out, we found that there was a single occupant in that motor vehicle, deceased,” said Staff Sgt. Warren Driechel, Edmonton Police Service.
It’s not known what caused the crash or the gender of the victim.
Police and the Major Collisions Unit are investigating.
