CTrain op, security, mail courier salaries: Calgary’s compensation list

WATCH: The City of Calgary released its compensation disclosure list, and Stefan Keyes breaks down the numbers.

CALGARY – The city of Calgary released its first annual compensation disclosure list on Wednesday, detailing position titles, salary ranges and general information about pensions and benefits of its staff.

Employee names and exact salaries are not included. The city says the majority of employees base salaries as of Feb. 24 fall between $50,000 to $100,000.

“Our salary ranges provide fair and competitive compensation for our employees,” said city manager Jeff Fielding in a statement. “We want to be an employer of choice, without losing sight of our accountability to citizens.”

The Alberta government started releasing a provincial disclosure list in 2014, including names and salaries of those with base salaries of $100,000 or more. That legislation doesn’t apply to municipalities.

“This list strikes a good balance between protecting employee privacy and providing public disclosure to our citizens,” said Fielding, whose role as city manager tops the list with a range of $265,000 to $350,000.
