SIU confirms man shot in altercation with Toronto police has died

TORONTO – The province’s Special Investigations Unit has confirmed that a man shot during an “interaction” with police in east-end Toronto has died.

Police say a homeowner on Milverton Boulevard called just after 10 a.m. and reported a man armed with scissors had come to his front door and demanded entry.

After being denied access, the man went to the backyard of the home before returning to the front and wandering away.

The man was then spotted on a neighbouring street and police said after some kind of altercation he was shot.

The SIU says he was taken to St. Michael’s Hospital.

Ten investigators and forensic investigators from the SIU are investigating the incident. (680News, The Canadian Press)
