Murder victim was shot on banks of Red River in Winnipeg: police

WINNIPEG — Police need your help in finding the person responsible for killing a 49-year-old Beasejour, Manitoba man nearly two weeks ago.

The body of Jason Stinson was spotted on the banks of the Red River in downtown Winnipeg on June 12th by an off duty officer.

After conducting an autopsy, police say Stinson had been shot and killed along the water’s edge, near Lombard Avenue and Waterfront Drive.

Investigators say a week before he was killed, he was assaulted in the 900 block of Kildonan Drive and suffered significant injuries and needed medical help.

Police are asking anyone who saw the June 5th assault or saw Stinson on June 12th to contact them at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
