Calgary fire crews put out blaze in Sundance neighbourhood

WATCH: A home on Sunvale Crescent was seriously damaged Tuesday afternoon after a fire broke out. Gary Bobrovitz reports.

CALGARY – The Calgary Fire Department responded to a house fire in the southeast community of Sundance on Tuesday afternoon.

A two-alarm fire was underway on Sunvale Crescent S.E. before 3 p.m.

Calgary Fire spokesperson Carol Henke said six teens were in the home at the time of the fire, but all got out safely. She said the house is seriously damaged, and residents will be out of a home for some time.

The fire appears to have started on the outside of the home, according to fire officials. Henke said the occupants were alerted to the fire by a neighbour.

“It is not known if there were working smoke alarms in the house,” said the fire department in a release.
