Winnipeg – Police won’t be charging the person responsible for stabbing and killing a man on Dufferin Avenue earlier this month.

On June 4th, around 3 a.m, police and fire paramedics were called to the 200 block of Dufferin for reports of an injured man.

Elmer Kakewash, 29, was found suffering from stab wounds to the upper body.  He was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries.

Winnipeg Police homicide detectives investigated the death and found a male suspect: but in a news release Tuesday said no charges will be laid.

Officers say the decision was made in consultation with prosecutors, but provided no other explanation.
