KELOWNA – RCMP are investigating a report of a suspicious death at a Kelowna residence.
B.C. Ambulance Service crews were called to the home at 941 Bernard Avenue Sunday night where they found the body of a 51-year-old man and called RCMP shortly after 8:30 p.m.
“Police have secured the area and are continuing to investigate any and all leads as the cause of death is undetermined at this time. Currently, Forensic Identification Services are processing the scene,” says Cpl. Joe Duncan.
Duncan adds no one has been taken into custody. The victim’s identity will be released once his family has been notified.
A woman who doesn’t want to be identified told Global News she is a friend of the deceased and says that the victim was murdered. She says the man lived in the top unit of a duplex.
Another woman told Global News she rode her bike past the home Sunday evening and heard noise and swearing coming from the residence.
Bernard Avenue between Gordon Drive and Ethel Street was closed for several hours Sunday night. Police tape continues to surround the area around the home.
Kelowna RCMP has a tip line set up. Anyone with any information is asked to call 250-470-6236.
