WINNIPEG — If you live in southeast or west Winnipeg be prepared for fogging trucks to roll down your street Friday night
Starting at 9:30 pm fogging crews will be in neighbourhoods around Kingston Crescent, St. Vital, Sage Creek, St.James and Westwood. They will wrap up by 6:30 am Saturday.
The crews will be spraying Malathion, a controversial insecticide. The city recommends windows be closed and air condition shut off when fogging trucks are spraying.
The city says buffer zones will be respected and crews will not spray within 90 metres of a registered property. As of Thursday afternoon there were 584 buffer zones registered.
The city-wide average trap count on Friday is 82. Click here to find out what the trap count is in your area.
The city announced the fogging program Wednesday after the hot, humid weather created the perfect conditions for mosquitoes.
