Blackfoot Trail crash leaves Calgary man in serious condition

CALGARY – A Calgary man believed to be in his 70s suffered potentially life-threatening injuries in a single vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon.

The crash occurred on the southbound lanes of Blackfoot Trail between Glenmore Trail and Heritage Drive S.E. at approximately 1:15 p.m.

The vehicle he was driving was reportedly headed northbound on Blackfoot Trail when it drifted across the median, crossed the southbound lanes, and then struck the concrete barrier, according to EMS. Both the vehicle and the barrier were damaged.

The man was taken to Foothills Hospital in serious condition.

Calgary police are investigating the factors leading up to the collision to determine if a medical emergency had occurred.
