TORONTO – Police are calling the stabbing death of a 12-year-old boy “family related.” The boy died in hospital after being stabbed at a downtown Toronto hotel early Wednesday morning.
“They were guests at the hotel, and they were family members,” homicide squad Det. Omar Khan said Wednesday afternoon.
A man has been arrested and there is no further threat to public safety.

The incident happened just before 6 a.m. inside the Cambridge Suites hotel at Richmond St. and Victoria St. on the eight floor. Khan said there were multiple calls to 911 when the stabbing occurred.
The victim was transported to Saint Michael’s Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
“Any further witnesses are asked to call the homicide squad,” said Khan.
The man remains in custody and has not yet been charged.
