HALIFAX – Police in Halifax are investigating the discovery of a razor blade in an egg carton.

A woman called Halifax Regional Police on Thursday to report finding the blade in a carton of eggs she had bought from a vendor at the Alderney Landing Farmer’s Market on May 23.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The eggs were packaged in a regular carton and police say the vendor typically uses cartons returned by customers.

Police say anyone who finds foreign objects in food or food packaging should contact police and keep the food item, foreign object and packaging the food was in when purchased.
