CALGARY – Police have one man in custody after he barricaded himself inside a home in the southeast community of Erin Woods.

Officers were first called to the house along Erin Woods Drive S.E. and 52nd Street S.E. around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Initially, the man inside the home indicated to investigators that he wouldn’t be leaving the home peacefully.

Police didn’t know if the man was in the home alone, or if he had a firearm.

Neighbours living near the home were told to stay inside and go into their basements – or leave the area for the day – as police dealt with the situation.
