SASKATOON – Students of inner-city schools had smiles on their faces Tuesday as members of a Saskatoon radio station distributed bikes. Over 360 bicycles were donated last weekend to Rock 102’s Bikes for Kids collection blitz.

Of those, 260 were salvaged and given away at St. Maria Goretti Community School to students who could still get some use out of them.

“We’ve actually had to be careful because when we used to do this it was a free for all just go and grab bikes, boy oh boy it was so crazy,” said Derek Watson, Rock 102 Morning Show co-host.

“We bring all the inner-city schools and they’re community organizers and give them a chance to pick between two bikes and we go through the whole list until we get rid of all 260 bikes.”
