WATCH: The Global BC helicopter captured images of the slick in English Bay
VANCOUVER – Port Metro Vancouver has sent a crew to investigate what appears to be a slick in English Bay.
Dan Bate, with the Canadian Coast Guard, says the slick appears to be a lighter product, such as diesel or gasoline and is not heavy oil.
Officials tried to recover some of the substance with absorbent pads, but have not been able to collect anything at this time. Bate says the product appears to be dissipating.
The call first came in around 10:45 a.m. The source of the slick is unknown at this time.
