WINNIPEG — For the third year in a row the Winnipeg Jets top young guns will be on display at the Young Stars Classic. This years four team tournament will begin on September 11 and will see the Jets top prospects appear in three games over four days in Penticton, British Columbia.
The Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks will also take part. The Jets first game is against the Flames on September 11. After a day off they’ll face the Canucks followed by their final game on September 14 against the Oilers.
“We are pleased to have our prospects attend the Young Stars Classic in Penticton for a fourth time,” General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff said in a media release. “This is a prime opportunity for us to once again get a closer look at our prospects in game situations as well as evaluate their development over the summer months.”
Last year Jets players like Nik Ehlers, Chase De Leo, Nelson Nogier, Josh Morrissey, Jan Kostalek, Nic Petan, Eric Comrie and Connor Hellebuyck all suited up, helping the Jets to two wins and one loss. The Jets also played in the 2011 event in their first year back in the NHL but there was no Young Stars Classic in 2012 because of the NHL lockout.
