Madonna reschedules first 5 shows, plans to kick off tour in Montreal

TORONTO — Madonna announced Thursday she is pulling the plug on the first five dates of her upcoming Rebel Heart tour and will instead hit the road beginning in Canada.

“As my fans already know, the show has to be perfect,” the 56-year-old pop star said in a statement.

“Assembling all the elements will require more time than we realized. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause my fans. I can promise you this show will be worth the wait.”

Madonna is bumping three concerts in Miami and Atlanta and a pair in San Juan, Puerto to January. The tour will kick off Sept. 9 at Montreal’s Bell Centre (with a second show on Sept. 10).

She is scheduled to play Quebec City on Sept. 21, Toronto on Oct. 5 and 6, Edmonton on Oct. 11 and 12 and Vancouver on Oct. 14.
