UPDATE: May 21 – Vancouver Police say Gary Vogrig is back in custody.
Shortly before 7 p.m. on Wednesday, 51-year-old Vogrig was seen drinking near Second Beach in Stanley Park. He was arrested without incident.
Previous story from May 20:
Vancouver police say they are looking for yet another sex offender who did not return to his halfway house.
Fifty-one-year-old Gary Vogrig is a two-time federal offender on statutory release serving a four-year-six-month sentence for sexual assault and threatening.
His criminal history is extensive and includes charges of uttering threats, assault, sexual assault, unlawful confinement and robbery.
He is now wanted Canada-wide after failing to return to his halfway house last night.
Vogrig is white, 5’11” tall and 165 pounds. He has shaved brown hair with a moustache and hazel eyes. He has a tattoo of a small cross on his right arm, an unfinished wolverine on his left arm and four burn marks on his left forearm. It is not known what clothing he was last wearing.
Vogrig’s disappearance comes just a week after three high-risk sex offenders failed to return to their halfway houses in Vancouver.
Anyone one who sees Gary Vogrig, or knows of his whereabouts, is asked not to approach him and call 9-1-1 immediately.
