EDMONTON — A city recreation centre will be closed to the public from May 27 to July 7 as Edmonton hosts the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015.

The Commonwealth Rec Centre will reopen to the public on Wednesday, July 8.

The city recommends Commonwealth users to speak with a staff member at the front counter for more information on the accommodations available during the closure. Patrons are encouraged to use other city facilities during the closure.

A spokesperson for the city explained members at Commonwealth will get their pass level adjusted so they’ll have access to any city facility including Clareview Community Recreation Centre. Annual members will also receive an additional six weeks on their membership to accommodate for the closure, pushing their renewal date back.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup will run from June 6 to July 4 at Commonwealth Stadium.
