TORONTO – Impaired driving will be the centre of attention as the 27th annual sober driving campaign is officially launched today.
The arrive alive Drive Sober event will bring to light the dangers of impaired driving ahead of the Victoria Day long weekend.
The Ornge air ambulance service has partnered up with the campaign this year to lend their voice to the cause.
A new video Public Service Announcement (PSA) with an Ornge Critical Care Flight Paramedic will be rolled out, including a new radio spot with champion curler Glenn Howard.
“There are still a number of crashes we respond to that are related to impaired driving. We want to emphasize the importance of sober driving and planning ahead,” said Dr. Andrew McCallum, President and CEO of Ornge in a media release.
Ontario Provincial Police say they have filed more than 180 impaired driving-related charges on GTA highways over the last 30 days — a 60 per cent spike compared to the same 30-day period in 2014.
