Montrealer accused of violating peace bond conditions granted bail

MONTREAL — A Montreal man accused of violating the terms of a terrorism-related peace bond he signed in March has been granted bail.

Merouane Ghalmi was arrested last week and charged with breaking a condition he was not to consult terrorism materials online.

The 22-year-old Ghalmi was held over the weekend and released today after agreeing to several strict conditions that forbid him from going on the Internet.

He will also continue to wear a tracking bracelet monitoring his movements.

Ghalmi’s case returns to court on June 11.
