Saskatchewan-shot film opens on big screen

REGINA – People from Saskatchewan are getting a chance to experience parts of the province on the big screen.

The Saskatchewan-shot feature film Big Muddy screened in Saskatoon Friday and opens in Regina Saturday night.

The movie is described as a modern-day western.

“It’s one of the most beautiful areas I’ve ever seen in Canada,” said Nadia Litz, the actress playing Martha. “We shot all around Assiniboia and southern Saskatchewan.”

Litz is originally from Winnipeg, while the director is from Saskatoon.

“It really is a Saskatchewan film,” said Jefferson Moneo, the writer and director. “I don’t know how many people know about the history of Southern Saskatchewan but there really is a history of outlaws, in particular in the Big Muddy Badlands that I always found really interesting.”
