High-risk sex offender fails to return to Vancouver halfway house

VANCOUVER – A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a high-risk sex offender for failing to return to his Vancouver halfway house last night.

Gerald Richard McLean, 46, was convicted of sexually assaulting a child in 2000 and a teenager in 1995. He is a two-time federal offender, who is serving a long-term supervision order after completing a two-year sentence for sexual assault.

McLean is Caucasian, 5’7″ tall, 175 lbs., with green eyes, a goatee, and long blonde hair, possibly worn in a ponytail. He has a tattoo of an eagle on his left upper arm, a skull on his shoulder, a tribal band on his right upper arm and the word “prospector” on his back. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, black hoodie with an emblem on the back, brown pants, and black boots.

Police say anyone who sees Gerald McLean, or knows of his whereabouts, is asked not to approach him and call 9-1-1 immediately.
