VERNON – A Vernon man who triggered a considerable search effort when he failed to come home as expected has been dealt with by the courts.
Kyle Macinnes, 25, broke several conditions of a previous bail order on an assault charge when he went for a motorcycle ride April 22nd and didn’t return until 36 hours later.
He pleaded guilty to the assault and four counts of breach of bail.
Macinnes received a 90 day conditional sentence for the breach offenses.
The judge suspended sentence on the assault conviction while imposing one year probation, a two year firearms ban and $600 in Victim Surcharge fines.
Search and rescue volunteers from Vernon, Kelowna and the Shuswap wasted their efforts looking for Macinnes who police say wasn’t forthright about where he had been.
