TORONTO – A celebrity photographer accused of hitting Ryan Reynolds with a car earlier this month has been ordered by a judge to stay away from the actor.
Richard ‘Rik’ Fedyck, 52, made his first court appearance Tuesday on charges of assault with a weapon (his vehicle), dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and criminal harassment.
The alleged hit and run in the parking garage of the Shangri-La Hotel residences took place on April 10 but prosecutors alleged Fedyck started harassing Reynolds at the end of February. The 38-year-old star is in his native Vancouver to film Deadpool.

Judge Maria Giardini imposed a publication ban on details of the case.
Fedyck, a resident of nearby Richmond, was released on $1,000 bail but must stay out of Vancouver until Reynolds leaves and must have no contact with Reynolds, his wife Blake Lively or their family. He is prohibited from taking any photos or video of Reynolds and must stay at least 500 metres away from any Deadpool filming location outside of Vancouver.
Fedyck stood with his hands in his pockets during the brief court appearance.
He is scheduled to be back in court on May 5.
Fedyck said nothing as he left the courthouse but previously called the accusation that he hit Reynolds with his car “100 per cent false.”

He later wrote on Twitter that he was listening to the KISS song “Not For The Innocent.”
Fedyck has been retweeting a number of phrases and expressions since the alleged incident with Reynolds, including “People will judge you no matter what, so be who you are what you want to be,” “Not caring what other people think is the best choice you will ever make,” and “In life, you have 3 choices. Give up, give in, or give it your all.”
Fedyck owns Vancouver-based PUNKD Images and syndicates his photographs through different agencies.
He has made headlines in the past due to run-ins with celebrities.
In 2010, Fedyck was the subject of a hit and run investigation by Montreal police after actor Kellan Lutz claimed he was struck by a car.
Lutz, who was in Montreal filming Immortals, alleged that a car backed into him and then left the scene.
Fedyck was not charged.
In early 2007, Fedyck filed a lawsuit against Denise Richards and Pamela Anderson, accusing the two stars of assault following an incident at the River Rock Casino in Richmond, B.C.
Fedyck said Richards threw laptops belonging to him and fellow photographer Scott Cosman off a balcony after she spotted them taking pictures.
The case was settled in July 2007.
In 2008, Fedyck filed a complaint with police alleging that bodyguards for Jennifer Aniston — who was in Vancouver shooting Love Happens — threatened him and used a racial slur against his girlfriend.
No charges were filed.
