Quebec telephone company offers free calls to Nepal

MONTREAL — In the wake of the earthquake that devastated Nepal, Quebec telecom company, Videotron, said Tuesday its customers to make free calls to Nepal from residential and mobile phones.

“In a gesture of support for Quebec residents affected by the disaster, charges for long-distance calls placed to Nepal from April 25 through May 31 will not be billed to Videotron customers or will be credited on invoices issued after May 1,” the company noted in a statement.

“Our hearts go out to the people of Nepal and their families,” Manon Brouillette, president and CEO of Videotron, said in a statement.

“We hope this will make it a little bit easier for our customers to stay in touch with loved ones during this trying time.”
