LAKE COUNTRY — The District of Lake Country says more voters have turned out at the advance polls for the rail trail referendum than last year’s civic elections. The advanced polls took place over four days and attracted 2853 eligible voters.

Residents will have one more chance to cast their ballots on General Voting Day Saturday, April 25 at George Elliott Secondary School’s gymnasium. Polls open 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
“In the advance polls alone we have beat the 2014 general election turnout and hope to see even more people at the polls on Saturday,” says Chief Election Officer Reyna Seabrook. “The Election Officials have done a fantastic job in expediting people through the voting process and we are well-prepared for a large turnout Saturday so that wait times are kept to an absolute minimum.”
The District is seeking approval to borrow $2.6 million to help fund its share of the proposed $22 million purchase to turn the old rail line into a recreational corridor.
