One of the world’s most spectacular rail tours is celebrating its 25th year.

The Rocky Mountaineer started as a small family-run B.C. company. But quickly, the luxury daylight trip across B.C. into Alberta became known around the world.

It now has a long list of accolades and awards, including most scenic train trip in the world and best rail experience.

The ride hasn’t always been smooth.

A bitter lockout in 2011 took 14 months to settle.

But the Rocky Mountaineer kept on rolling and has grown into the largest private rail company in the world.
