KELOWNA–It was a shutout night for Rockets netminder Jackson Whistle, as the Kelowna Rockets took game one of the Western Conference semi-final 5-0 over the Victoria Royals on home ice.
The Rockets outshot the Royals 14 to 1 in the first period, but couldn’t get on the board.
But Tyson Bailie opened the scoring 5:40 into the second, and Cole Martin followed with his first goal of the playoffs later in the period.
In the third, Gage Quinney got a hold of a rebound to give Kelowna a 3-0 lead.
Rourke Chartier and Tomas Soustal capped off the scoring with powerplay goals in the third.
Whistle made 20 saves for the shutout win. The teams next play Saturday night at 7 p.m. in Kelowna.
