CHIPMAN, N.B. – A fire destroyed a well-known diner in the village of Chipman overnight.
Barry Armstrong, deputy chief of the Chipman Fire Department, says there was quite a bit of smoke coming from the upstairs of D’s Diner & Lodging when firefighters arrived around 2 a.m. Monday.

The upstairs of the building used to be rented out as sleeping quarters, but no one was inside at the time of the fire.
There were no injuries.
Armstrong says it’s too early to tell what caused the fire and the fire marshal’s office is investigating.
The building is still standing, but Armstrong says it will likely have to be torn down due to the extent of the damage.
