BC Liquor Store prices remain mostly the same following new laws

WATCH:  BC’s new liquor laws are officially here and wine is for sale in some grocery stores but as Ted Chernecki reports, the changes don’t necessarily mean lower prices.

VANCOUVER – Consumers may see a few changes on their receipt at BC Liquor Stores today, but most of the price adjustments appear to be minimal.

With changes to the BC Liquor Laws starting today, April 1, many wondered if they would be paying more for alcohol. However, most of the changes involve a few cents.

Also starting today, many BC Liquor Stores will have extended hours and will open on Sundays. You can check if a store near you will be open here.

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch says 169 stores will be extending their operating hours, while 27 locations will not. One hundred and sixty one stores will now be open on Sundays, although 27 of them will only be open seasonally. All stores are closed on Easter Sunday.

Twenty-seven stores will be open Easter Monday and 153 stores will be open Good Friday for the first time.

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch has provided Global News with some of the price changes for their most popular products. Some products will be more or less expensive depending on whether they are part of a limited time offer (LTO). If the product is not part of a LTO (which lasts six weeks), that price has been adjusted for the foreseeable future in the government stores.

Some products may be more or less expensive, however, but those have not been released to the media at this time.
