Coquitlam RCMP is asking the public for help locating a man allegedly involved in an attempted child luring incident on March 24.
Mounties said a 12-year-old girl was approached by a man in a white car on between 3 and 4 p.m. on March 24 while walking home from school in the area of Hickey Street and Austin Avenue in Coquitlam.
The suspect offered the young girl and iPod or iPad if she got in his car, she refused and kept walking. The man tried to follow her but got caught at a red light on Austin Avenue at Mariner Way. The tween stayed on her route, eventually lost sight of the white car and got home unharmed.
Cpl. Jamie Chung says the “girl did everything right.”
Coquitlam RCMP’s Sex Crime Unit is now investigating the case.
The male suspect is described as Caucasian, between the age of 35 and 40 years old with stubble on his face. He’s balding with blondish brown hair on the sides and was wearing a t-shirt. The vehicle he was driving was a white, four-door sedan with a grey “leathery” interior, some dirt on the exterior and garbage/clutter in the car.
If anyone has information regarding the incident or suspect, they’re asked to call Coquitlam RCMP.
